John Thune
John Randolph Thune is an American politician serving as Senior US Senator for South Dakota, president he was first elected in 2004. As a member of the Republican Party he served. Chairman of the Senate Minorities Council since 2021. Thune has worked in politics and civil organizations since completing his MBA. He served in the US House of Representatives for the South Dakota Congressional District from 1997 to 2003. In the US Senate, he served as Leader of the Republican Party from 2007 to 2009 and Chairman of the Senate Political Committee. Republican House from 2009 to 2012. He chaired the Senate Conference of the Republican Party from 2012 to 2019, third place in the Senate. Thune became the senior US senator from South Dakota after Tim Johnson retired in 2015. He was a senior member of the South Dakota congressional delegation.
