Juliette Gordon Low is the founder of Girl Scout USA. Inspired by the work of Lord Baden-Powell, the founder of Boy Scouts, she joined the Girl Guides movement in England, forming her own Girl Guides group there in 1911. In 1912 she became returned to the United States and that same year formed the first American Girls Instructor Team in Savannah, Georgia. In 1915, Girl Scouts of the United States became known as Girl Scout, and Juliette Gordon Low was the first leader. She remained active until her death. Her birthday, October 31, is celebrated annually by Girl Scout as "Founders' Day".
