About Kate Lynch

The recipient of a 1980 Genie Award for her portrayal of Roxanne in the Canadian comedy film Meatballs, she also appeared in such movies as Soup for One and Def-Con 4. Also a stage actress, director, and playwright, she contributed to numerous productions at Canada's Theatre Passe Muraille and at the Blyth and Shaw theater festivals.

Before Fame

Early in her career, she acted in episodes of Custard Pie and For the Record.


She appeared in Meatballs with a young Bill Murray; the movie launched both Murray and director Ivan Reitman to fame.

Family Life

She taught drama at several Ontario universities, including George Brown College, Ryerson University, and University College, Toronto.


She played the role of Pauline Harris in the second part of the popular Canadian miniseries version of Anne of Green Gables. Anne of Green Gables and its sequel, Anne of Avonlea, both starred Canadian actress Megan Follows as Anne Shirley.
