It currently occupies seat number 244 in the Riksdag. She was a member of the Judicial Committee from her arrival at the Riksdag until February 2019. She served as mayor of Stockholm from 2006 to 2008, being the second female mayor of the city. She was also the party's vice president from 2003 to 2009, when she was replaced by Beatrice Ask.
