Leisel Marie Jones, OAM is a former Australian competitive swimmer and Olympic gold medalist. A participant in the 2000 Summer Olympics - at the age of 15 - and the 2004 Summer Olympics, she was part of the Australian team that won gold in the women's event. 4 × 100-meter mixed relay at the 2004 Athens Olympics and won the 100-meter swimming frog gold medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. On March 17, 2012, Jones was selected to compete in the London 2012 Summer Olympics and became the first Australian swimmer to compete in four Olympics. There, she won her ninth Olympic medal, a silver medal in the 4 × 100 meter mixed relay event. Jones is known to use a classic frog swimming technique, characterized by a slow but deeper cycle and also a slow start. Along with South African champion Penny Heyns, she is considered one of the greatest frog swimmers of all time.
