She was appointed by President Donald Trump in June 2017 to lead Region II of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, New York and New Jersey watchdogs, and continued in office until Trump give up his duties on January 2021. She was twice found to be in violation of the Hatch Law, a federal law that restricts the political activities of federal law enforcement officers, and in 2021 she was fined and banned from government service for 4 year. Prior to his appointment to HUD, Patton worked in event planning for the Trump family, including planning Eric Trump's wedding and helping manage the Eric Trump Foundation. She was a speaker at the Republican National Conference 2016
