Mark Robert Rypien is a former Canada-United States defenseman who played 14 seasons with the National Football Federation. He played college football in Washington State and was drafted by the Washington Redskins in the sixth round of the 1986 NFL Draft. He was the first Canadian-born midfielder to both start in the NFL and was named Super Bowl MVP, making it to Super Bowl XXVI. with Redskins. He is also a member of several other NFL teams. His nephew, Brett, also plays in the NFL.
