Muhammed Necati Şaşmaz is the best known Turkish actor for starring Polat Alemdar in the popular TV series Kurtlar Vadisi and its sequels including Iraqi Kurtlar Vadisi. Necati Şaşmaz was born into a Zaza family in Harput, Elazığ, Turkey, the eldest son of Abdülkadir Şaşmaz. He studied hotel management and tourism in both Turkey and Canada. He lived in the United States for six years before returning to Turkey to visit his parents. In Istanbul, Necati Şaşmaz met the famous Turkish director Osman Sınav, who offered him the lead role in Valley of the Wolves. He plays the fictional character Polat Alemdar in the story and in the film. He's currently playing in another spinoff of the original series called Kurtlar Vadisi: Pusu. He married Nagehan Kaşıkçı in 2012, but filed for divorce in 2019.
