Richard K. "Rick" Sullivan, Jr. is an American politician who served as Chief of Staff for Governor Deval Patrick from 2014 to 2015. Prior to taking office, Sullivan was a former Massachusetts Commonwealth Energy and Environment Secretary and former mayor Westfield, Massachusetts. Sullivan was mayor of Westfield from 1994 to 2007, when he was appointed commissioner of the Department of Conservation and Recreation. Under his leadership, DCR completed a number of large-scale improvements, including a two-year, $ 21.3 million project at the Mount Greylock State Reserve and central renovations worth $ 9. million dollars from travelers to George Island in Boston. In 2011, he succeeded Ian Bowles as Minister of Energy and the Environment.
