Thuy Trang is an American-Vietnamese actress. She is known as Trini Kwan, the first Yellow Ranger from the original cast of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers TV series. Trang's father was a South Vietnamese army officer who fled the country in 1975 after the fall of Saigon, leaving his family behind. At the age of six, Trang, his mother and brothers boarded a freighter bound for Hong Kong, a difficult journey in which Trang fell seriously ill. They reunited with Trang's father in the United States in 1980 and settled in California. She enrolled at the University of California, Irvine to study civil engineering, but turned to acting after a talent scout discovered her. Page was cast for the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, her first leading role, after going through an audition process that included around 500 actresses.
