Valentine Augustus Walker is an English magician, fugitive artist and illusion designer. He was born in Moseley, Birmingham to Joseph Walker, a prostitute and his wife Emma. Val Walker worked as a manufacturer of electrical equipment, later served in the Royal Navy and became known as the "Mage of the Navy". Walker is said to be the designer of the Radium Girl illusion. His most famous escape was the "Tank at the River Thames" where it was bolted to a steel tank lowered into the Thames from the Sea-Scout, Northampton trainer on 20 August 1920. It has escaped for 20 seconds. In 1913, he married Ethel Dora Harris, the daughter of Thomas Daniel Harris and his wife Emma Ellson. He retired from the stage in 1924, briefly returning in 1939, under the name "Val Enson", with an illusion known as "Aquamarine Girl".
