Whitney Elizabeth Engen is an American soccer player and a women's World Cup soccer champion. Most recently, she played as a defenseman for the United States Women's National Football Team as well as the Boston Breakers of the National Women's Soccer League, the top women's soccer league in the United States. She made her debut for the U.S. national team in the 2011 Algarve Cup against Norway on March 4. During her time with the team, she made 40 appearances for the team and scored four goals. Engen represented the United States in a FIFA Women's World Cup in 2015 and an Olympic tournament in 2016. Engen played college football with the North Carolina Tar Heels from 2006 to 2009. After her career as a colleague, she played college football with the North Carolina Tar Heels from 2006 to 2009. was selected fourth overall by the Chicago Red Stars. in the 2010 WPS Draft which took place on January 15, 2010 .
