Reginald Joseph Mitchell CBE, FRAeS, foi um projetista de aeronaves britânico que trabalhou para a empresa de aviação de Southampton Supermarine de 1920 a 1936. Ele é mais lembrado por projetar hidroaviões de corrida como o Supermarine S.6B e o Supermarine Spitfire. Nascido em Butt Lane, Staffordshire, Mitchell estudou na Hanley High School e depois trabalhou como aprendiz em uma oficina de engenharia de locomotivas, enquanto também estudava engenharia e matemática à noite.
