Ann Meyers Drysdale is a former American basketball player and sports presenter. She is an outstanding player in high schools, universities, Olympics, international tournaments and professional levels. Meyers was the first player to play for the US National Team in high school. She was the first woman to ever sign a four-year college track and field scholarship for UCLA. She was also the first woman to sign with the National Basketball Association team, Indiana Pacers, for $ 50,000. Her US team member World Champion Lusia "Lucy" Harris-Stewart is technically the first and only woman to be awarded by an NBA team - the New Orleans Jazz seventh-round selection in 1977 - although she never intended to attend the trials. Iowa's Denise Long was the first woman drafted by an NBA team - San Francisco Warriors' thirteenth round selection in 1969 - but the NBA commissioner reversed the choice as the Warriors had no intention of playing it alongside the men.
