Lauren Tarshis is an author of children's books, with a number of fiction, non-fiction and history books found in thousands of libraries and translated into multiple languages. She is the author of the New York Times bestselling book series I Survived. The fast-paced story book, novel for children in grades 3 to 5, focuses on a historical disaster from the perspective of a boy or girl who lived to tell the story. She is also the author of Emma-Jean Lazarus Fell Out of a Tree, a book honoring the Golden Kite for the Oprah novel and book club, and the sequel Emma-Jean Lazarus Fell in Love. These books are on many state lists and are often used by schools as part of their anti-bullying programs. In addition to writing books, Tarshis is also the SVP editor and editor of the Classroom Magazine division of Scholastic, Inc., which includes Storyworks, a language magazine for children in grades 3 through 5 that Editorial for several years.
