Simpson He performed backing vocals for Village People in its early years, which is why he was recruited into the group when Willis left. Simpson has appeared in the film Village People, Can't Stop the Music in 1980. Born and raised in the Bronx, he graduated from City College, New York, majoring in English and majoring in music. His sister, Valerie Simpson, is a member of song production and performer group Ashford & Simpson. The duo has worked with many Motown artists, with more success with Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, then Diana Ross, and with several non-Motown artists, such as Chaka Khan and The Brothers Johnson.
