Jose Antonio Vargas is a journalist, filmmaker and immigration activist. Born in the Philippines and raised in the United States at the age of 12, he was a member of The Washington Post which won the Pulitzer Prize for Hot News Reporting in 2008 for his reporting on the Virginia Tech online set and on paper. Vargas has also worked for the San Francisco Chronicle, the Philadelphia Daily News, and the Huffington Post. He wrote, produced, and directed the 2013 autobiographical film Documented, which premiered by CNN Films in June 2014. In a June 2011 essay in The New York Times, Vargas revealed the status. Is an undocumented immigrant in an effort to promote dialogue about immigration to the United States and in support of the DREAM Act, which will allow children in similar circumstances to become citizens.

He is most known for his Pulitzer Prize-winning coverage of the April 2007 Virginia Tech shootings for The Washington Post, but he has also written for The Huffington Post, The Philadelphia Daily News, and The San Francisco Chronicle.
