William Karnet Willis is a defensive midfielder of American football who has played eight seasons for the Cleveland Browns team during the All-American Football Conference and National Football Federation. Known for his speed and power despite his small size, Willis was one of the dominant defensive footballers of the 1940s and early 1950s. He was named the All-Pro in all. season of career and won the NFL Pro Bowl in three of the four seasons he played in the league. His technique and style of play were modeled on by other teams, and his versatility as a passer influenced the development of the modern full-back position. When he retired, Cleveland manager Paul Brown called him "one of the great strikers in the history of professional football."
