Charles Louis Trippi is a former American football player. He played professionally for the Chicago Cardinals of the National Football League from 1947 to 1955. Although mostly backwards, his versatility allows him to take on a myriad of roles in his career, including midfielders, defensive defenders, offensive players and throwing specialists. As a “tertiary threat,” Trippi is adept at running, catching, passing, dribbling and defending. Trippi attended the University of Georgia, where he played college football for the Georgia Bulldogs between 1942 and 1946, with his debut in 1944 while serving in the army during World War II. In his second year, he guided Georgia to victory at the Rose Bowl in 1943 and was named the game's most valuable player. As a senior student in 1946, he won the Maxwell Prize as the Most Outstanding College Football Player, named Southeast Player of the Year Conference and has earned the recognition of Team First Toan My.
