Artur Mas i Gavarró is a Spanish politician who is a Catalan nationalist. He was President of the Government of Catalonia from 2010 to 2015 and Interim President from September 2015 to January 12, 2016. Mas was a long-time member of the Democratic Convergence of Catalonia, having been the larger of the two - along with Unió Democràtica de Catalunya - among what at the time was the long-standing electoral coalition, Convergència Unió, a nationalist coalition liberal who has dominated the Catalan region since the 1980s. In 2001, Mas was appointed general secretary of the CDC, then, in 2012, he was appointed party president until the party was reestablished in July 2016 under the name of PDeCAT, which he chaired from July 2016 to January 2018 From 2003 to 2015, Mas held five positions: Catalan president, four times to win tickets - now disappeared - CiU and once for the coalition of the novel Junts pel Yes.
