Edén Atanacio Pastora Gómez is a Nicaraguan politician and guerrilla who ran for president as the candidate for the Alternative for Change party in the 2006 general election. In the fall of the Somoza regime, Pastora was the leader of the southern front, the largest militia force in southern Nicaragua, after only the FSLN in the north. Pastora is nicknamed Comandante Cero. His group was the first to call itself "Sandinistas", and also the first group to agree to an alliance with the FSLN, which will become more popular with this name. At the end of 1982, a few years after the success of the revolution, Pastora disillusioned the FSLN government and formed the Revolutionary Democratic Coalition whose aim was to confront politically and militarily the "false Sandinistas". From 2010 he reconciled with the FSLN and held the post of minister in the government of Daniel Ortega.
