Kelly Lynn Loeffler is an American businesswoman and politician who served as a US Senator from Georgia from 2020 to 2021. As a Republican, Loeffler was previously CEO of Bakkt, a subsidiary of financial services and commodities provider Intercontinental Exchange, of which her husband, Jeffrey Sprecher, was the CEO. Until February 2021, she was a co-owner of the Atlanta Dream of the Women's National Basketball Association. Brian Kemp, Republican Governor of Georgia, appointed Loeffler to the Senate in December 2019 following the resignation of Republican Senator Johnny Isakson on health grounds. Loeffler ran in the 2020 U.S. Special Election in Georgia, seeking to occupy Senate seats until January 3, 2023. She finished second in the November 3 election, progressing to a breakout with Democrat Raphael Warnock on January 5 2021. She lost in the second round of the election before Warnock. She was mocked as a candidate to run against him in the 2022 US Senate elections in Georgia.
