Rob Portman
Robert Jones Portman is an American lawyer and politician who is a young US Senator from Ohio. A Republican, Portman previously served as the US Representative, 14th US Trade Representative and 35th Director of the Office of Management and Budget. In 1993, Portman won a special election to represent Ohio's 2nd Congressional District in the US House of Representatives. He was reelected six times before resigning after being appointed by President George W. Bush as US Trade Representative in May 2005. As a trade representative, Portman has entered into trade agreements with other countries and has filed claims with the World Trade Organization. In May 2006, Bush appointed Portman as director of the Office of Management and Budget. In 2010, Portman announced that his candidacy for the seat of the United States Senate was released by George Voinovich. He easily defeated Governor Lee Fisher and was re-elected in 2016.
