Brian David Mason is a Canadian politician who served as the leader of Alberta's New Democratic Party from 2004 to 2014 and served as Minister of Transportation in Rachel Notley's NDP government. He is also the head of the Government of the House of Representatives. Mason was first elected a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta because he ceased to exist in the Edmonton Plateau in a secondary election in 2000. He was later re-elected and elected in Edmonton-Highlands-Norwood after the constituency was established in 2004. He chose not to run in 2019 and was succeeded by Janis Irwin. Mason is the longest serving NDP congressman in Alberta history, with a political career spanning more than 20 years.
