Brian Windhorst is an American sports writer for ESPN.com, who reports on the National Basketball Association. He was columnist of Cleveland Cavaliers for Akron Beacon Journal from 2003 to summer 2008, and started working for The Plain Dealer of Cleveland in October 2008. He joined ESPN in 2010 after LeBron James left the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Miami Heat. Windhorst attended high school in Akron, Ohio at St. Joseph's Vincent - St. Mary High School, the same school James would later attend, and graduated from Kent State University with a journalism degree in 2000. Windhorst began to embrace James in his high school football career and captured the lead to don the Cavaliers in 2003, the year James was drafted. While James is the youngest NBA player, Windhorst is the youngest NBA writer on the road. In 2007, he co-wrote The Franchise: LeBron James and the Remaking of the Cleveland Cavaliers with sports columnist Terry Pluto.
