Bruce Babbitt
Bruce Edward Babbitt is an American lawyer and politician from Arizona. A member of the Democratic Party, Babbitt was Arizona's 16th governor from 1978 to 1987 and the Secretary of the Interior of the United States from 1993 to 2001. He won the position of attorney general of Arizona upon graduation. Harvard Law School. He became governor of Arizona after the death of his predecessor, Wesley Bolin. Babbitt won the full term in 1978 and was re-elected in 1982. He focused on tax reform, health care and water management. He helped form the Democratic Party's Council of Governors and sought the Democratic presidential nomination in 1988, but dropped out of the race after the first round of primary elections. After her presidential campaign, Babbit is the leader of the Conservative Federation of Voters. He served as Secretary of the Interior during Bill Clinton's presidency.
