They have a son, Raphael, who is named after the Hotel de Rome where he was conceived. De Niro adopted Drena, Abbott's daughter from his previous marriage. Drena has appeared in a number of her father's films, including Showtime, Wag the Dog, City by the Sea, and The Intern. De Niro and Abbott divorced in 1988. Abbott played the box office role of pornographic cinema in Martin Scorsese's Taxi Driver opposite Robert De Niro. She had a cameo role in the 1977 film New York, New York, in which she sang the Fats Waller song, "Honeysuckle Rose". She also played a role in De Niro's affections in the 1983 Scorsese film The King of Comedy, as well as roles in the Crime Story television series and Jo Jo Dancer's 1986 film Your Life Is Call.
