George Voinovich
George Victor Voinovich is an American politician, served as a US Senator from 1999 to 2011, Ohio's 65th Governor from 1991 to 1998, and Cleveland's 54th Mayor from 1980 to 1989, party member. The last Republicans hold that office. Voinovich spent more than 46 years in the public service - first as Ohio's Assistant Attorney General in 1963, and finally as a US Senator representing Ohio. He was the 15th as governor of Ohio and a US senator, and was one of only two mayors of Cleveland to later become governor of Ohio and a US senator; The other is Frank Lausche. He is also the only person who is both president of the National Governors Association and president of the Federation of National Cities.
