Lehn is one of the first inventors in the field of supermolecular chemistry, i.e. the chemistry of host-guest molecular assemblies generated by intermolecular interactions, and continues to innovate in this field. In January 2006, his team published 790 peer-reviewed articles in the chemistry literature.
