Yumkella is a past President of UN-Energy and two terms as former Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization. Born in the Kambia district in northern Sierra Leone, Yumkella holds a BA from Njala University; a Master from Cornell University; and doctoral degree. University of Illinois Agricultural Economics. In December 2005, Mr. Kandeh K. Yumkella was appointed General Director of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, after holding various senior positions in UNIDO.
