Ledisi Anibade Young, or simply Ledisi, is an American R&B and jazz musician, musician and recording actress. His first name means “to bring” or “to come here” in Yoruba. In 1995, Ledisi founded the Anibade group. After trying unsuccessfully to convince the group to sign a major label, she formed LeSun Records with Sundra Manning. Anibade and Ledisi released an album titled Soulsinger with the song "Take Time", which received considerable coverage from regional radio stations in San Francisco. In 2000, Ledisi reissued his first major label signing album, Soulsinger: The Revival. Ledisi and his band toured in 2001. In 2002 Ledisi released their second album, Feeling Orange but sometimes Blue. The album won the award for "Outstanding Jazz Album" at the California Music Awards.
