Haji Omar Lim Yew Hock is a Singaporean and Malaysian Chinese politician who was a member of the Legislative Council and Parliament from 1948 to 1963, and was Singapore's second minister from 1956 to 1959. During her early years, Lim worked as secretary after graduating from Raffles Academy. After the end of World War II, he joined the labor movement and then began his political career, joining the Radical Party in 1947. In 1949, he became a member of the Labor Party. He founded the Labor Front with David Marshall. The Rendel Constitution was implemented in 1955 due to political instability and the increased need for independence in post-war Singapore. The FL won the Legislative Assembly election, with Marshall as minister. Lim was appointed Minister of Labor and Welfare and served as Deputy Minister during his tenure.
