Mainza Mathias Chona is a Zambian politician and diplomat who served as Vice President of Zambia from 1970 to 1973 and Prime Minister twice: from August 25, 1973 to May 27, 1975 and from July 20, 1977 to June 15, 1978. He served as Secretary-General of the United National Independence Party, the ruling party, from 1978 to 1981. This position was de facto second command post in the Zambian political hierarchy during the one-party state of participation. He also holds various positions in the government, including Minister of Justice, Minister of the Interior and Minister of Justice and Minister of Justice. He was Secretary General of UNIP from 1978 to 1981 and Ambassador to the People's Republic of China from 1984 to 1989. He then held the post of Ambassador to France until 1992
