As a member of the People's Justice Party, she is currently Member of Parliament Permatang Pauh and former Member of Parliament for Lembah Pantai from March 8, 2008 to May 10, 2018. Prior to being a Member of Parliament, Nurul Izzah was and still is a strong advocate for rights humans and civilians, with particular interest in prisoners with religious prejudices. She is the daughter of Dato 'Seri Anwar Ibrahim, current President of the PKR and Dato Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Congressman from Pandan. On December 4, 2018, Nurul Izzah was elected Chair of the Billing Options Review Committee. She was replaced as President by MP Bukit Gelugor, Ramkarpal Singh, in July 2019
