He started the trend of incorporating Tagalog lyrics into his rendition of the American song The Way We Were and other foreign songs. Puno is known as a singer who regularly makes a mark on his stage with sarcastic humor and adult humor. He hosted the noon variety show Pilipinas Win na Win with Rey Valera, Marco Sison and Nonoy Zuñiga for two months in 2010 in place of Kris Aquino. He is also host on Happy Yipee Yehey! with John Estrada, Randy Santiago, Mariel Rodriguez, Pokwang and Toni Gonzaga being among the main hosts for Pilipinas Win na Win. Puno is also active in politics. In 1998, he was elected city councilor of the Makati City of District 1 until his third and final term ended in 2007 .
