Robert Edward Rubin is a retired bank executive, lawyer and former member of the US presidential cabinet. He was the 70th US Secretary of the Treasury in the Clinton administration. Prior to serving in government, he spent 26 years with Goldman Sachs, where he was ultimately a board member and co-chair from 1990 to 1992. Under the Clinton administration, Rubin oversaw the relaxation of underwriting guidelines in the financial industry that had been in place since the 1930s.
