Vince Martell
Vince Martell is best known as the lead guitarist of Vanilla Fudge. Martell was born in the Bronx to guitarist parents and encouraged him to play too. As a teenager, Martell joined the Navy, where he discovered his talents as a guitarist. In 1963, Martell and his family moved to Florida and soon joined a band called Ricky T & The Satans Three performed in Miami blues clubs and shrimp shops in Key West. In 1966, he founded the group The Pigeons with organist Mark Stein, bassist Tim Bogert and drummer Joe Brennan. After Brennan was replaced by Carmine Appice and a recording deal forced the band to change their names, the band became Vanilla Fudge. After Vanilla Fudge disbanded in 1970, Martell continued to perform until Vanilla Fudge reunited with another album in 1984 called Mystery. In 2000, he released his first solo CD, Endless High, followed by the CD of the same name, Vince Martell in 2001
