Walter S. Mossberg is an American journalist. He is widely recognized for pioneering the evaluation and commentary of modern, consumer-focused technology. From 1991 to 2013, he was the senior technology columnist of the Wall Street Journal. He also co-founded AllThingsD, Recode and D and Code conferences. From 2015 to 2017, Mossberg was editor-in-chief of The Verge and editor-in-chief of Recode, Vox Media owned websites. Mossberg wrote a weekly column for two people and also published a weekly podcast, Ctrl-Walt-Delete. Mossberg is also co-executive producer of the annual Code Conference. He retired in July 2017. Dow Jones announced on September 19, 2013 that Mossberg would leave the Wall Street Journal as part of his farewell to AllThingsD at the end of the year. AllThingsD is a technology conference and website owned by Dow Jones, but created and operated by Mossberg and Kara Swisher.
