She achieved her greatest success in the late 1970s and 1980s, releasing 13 Top 75 UK singles and entered the top 10 with "Pearl's a Singer", "Sunshine After the Rain" and title track. in the album No More the Fool. She has been nominated twice for the Brit Award. Brooks is a recipient of a Gold Medal from the British Academy of Composers, Composers and Authors. She is often referred to as "Queen of England's Blues".
