Samu Aleksi Haber is a Finnish singer, songwriter, TV music competition judge, entrepreneur, lead vocalist and pop-rock group leader Sunrise Avenue. Haber founded the Sunrise group in 1992 with his friend Jan Hohenthal. Hohenthal left the group in 2002 because he wanted to focus on his solo career. In 2002, Haber changed its corporate name to Sunrise Avenue. From 2002 to 2005, Haber visited 102 record labels and agencies to try to find a label for Sunrise Avenue music. The first album was made with the financial help of Mikko Virtala, a friend of Haber, who sold his house to pay the studio fees. Haber is an ice hockey fan and his favorite team is Helsingfors IFK. Haber played ice hockey at Espoon Kiekkoseura until the age of 14 as a defensive soldier participating in tournaments also in Canada and the United States. Haber's other hobbies include practicing with hot bells and jogging.
