Alec Lorimore is a two-time Oscar nominated director and screenwriter who has focused all of his efforts on creating Imax documentaries on giant screens. He is considered one of three producers of Imax's 1998 film Everest, which grossed over $ 140 million in box office gross worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing Imax documentary. It was first nominated for an Oscar for Best Documentary Film in 1995 for The Living Sea, and the two were subsequently nominated for the Dolphin category in the same Academy category in 2000. Other films include The Magic of Flight and At Sea, where he received the Alfred Thayer Mahan Prize for Literary Achievement from the American Naval Federation.
