A former student of The Groundlings, she played supporting roles in the films Carrie, Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Elvira: Mistress of the Dark, and roles in Cheech and Chong's Next Movie, Mr. Mum Back to School, planes, trains and cars, a river running through it, Natural Born Murders and Flubber. On television, McClurg appeared regularly on The David Letterman Show, before playing Bonnie Brindle on Small Wonder and Patty Poole on The Hogan Family. As a unique character, she has appeared in Alice, Mr. Belvedere, The Golden Girls, Roseanne, Full House, Seinfeld, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Malcolm in the Middle, Hannah Montana, Crashbox and Portlandia. Since 1977, she has also appeared in numerous commercials.
