Stjepan "Stipe" Mesić is a Croatian lawyer and politician who served as President of Croatia from 2000 to 2010. Before serving two five-year terms as President, he was Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia later the first multiparty election, is the last president. the President of Yugoslavia and therefore the Secretary General of the Non-Aligned Movement, as well as the Speaker of the Croatian Parliament, the judge of Našice and the mayor of his native country Orahovica. Mesić was a member of the Croatian Parliament in the 1960s, then absent from politics until 1990, when he joined the Croatian Democratic Union, and was appointed President of the Executive Council of the Socialist Republic. The Croatian Association won the election after the HDZ. His cabinet, although having served before the independence of Croatia, is considered by the Croatian government as the first government cabinet of the present Republic of Croatia.
