Emily "Mickey" Hahn is an American journalist and author. Considered one of the first feminists and called the "forgotten American literary treasure" by The New Yorker magazine, she is the author of 54 books and more than 200 articles and short stories. His twentieth-century novels played a pivotal role in opening Asia and Africa to the west. His many travels throughout his life and love for animals greatly influenced his work. She was the first woman to receive a degree in mining engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, then after living in Florence and London in the mid-1920s she went to the Belgian Congo and toured Central Africa in the years. 1930. In 1935, she traveled to Shanghai, where she taught English for three years and had relationships with important figures, such as the Soong Sisters and Chinese poet Shao Xunmei.
