Vina Fay Wray is the Canadian-American actress best known for her role as Ann Darrow in the 1933 film King Kong. With an acting career spanning nearly six decades, Wray has gained international recognition in as a horror film actress. She was known as one of the first "howling queens". After taking small roles in the film, Wray gained media attention after being selected as one of the "Young Stars of WAMPAS" in 1926. This led to her participating in entered Paramount Pictures as a teenager, where she directed more than a dozen feature films. After leaving Paramount, she signed contracts with various film companies, starring in her first horror film, among other types of roles, most notably in The Bowery and Viva Villa, both of whom with Wallace Beery. As for RKO Radio Pictures, Inc., she starred in her best known film, King Kong. After the success of King Kong, Wray appeared in many movies and TV series; she retired in 1980.
