Steven Ellison, known by his stage name Flying Lotus or sometimes FlyLo, is an American record producer, musician, DJ, filmmaker, and rapper from Los Angeles, California. He is also the founder of the record label Brainfeeder. Flying Lotus has released six studio albums—1983, Los Angeles, Cosmogramma, Until the Quiet Comes, You're Dead!, and Flamagra—to critical acclaim. He has produced much of the bumper music on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim programming block. He also contributed remixes for fellow Plug Research artists including Mia Doi Todd. In 2012, Ellison began rapping under the persona Captain Murphy, based on the Sealab 2021 character of the same name. Ellison kept this fact a secret for several months, finally revealing his identity several weeks after the release of his first rap mixtape, Duality.

About Flying Lotus
Electronic musician and music producer who released a number of critically acclaimed albums, including Until the Quiet Comes and You're Dead! Also a rapper under the stage name Captain Murphy, he recorded a 2012 hip-hop album titled Duality.
After signing with Warp Records in the first decade of the 2000s, he released an EP titled Reset and an LP titled 1983.
He was responsible for a good deal of the transitional and theme music featured during the Adult Swim segment of Cartoon Network programming.
His full name is Steven Ellison; he also goes under the stage name FlyLo. His great aunt and uncle, Alice and John Coltrane, were both notable jazz musicians, and his cousin Ravi Coltrane also had a successful music career.
He produced the single "SDS" for rapper Mac Miller.
