Janet Louise Yellen is an American economist, civil servant and policymaker who served as US Treasury Secretary since January 26, 2021. As a member of the Democratic Party, she previously served as US Treasury Secretary. The 15th President of the Federal Reserve from 2014 to 2018 She was the first woman to take on either of these two roles. She is also an Emeritus Professor at the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley and formerly excelled in Residency at the Brookings Institution. Yellen was a member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors from 1994 to 1997 and again from 2010 to 2018. She chaired the Economic Advisory Council in President Bill Clinton's administration from five 1997 to 1999 and was President of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco from 2004 to 2010. She was Vice President of the Federal Reserve from 2010 to 2014.
