Due to the length of his career as a journalist, airtime and current affairs, by the time he left the news he was being noticed as someone who had logged more hours as a human, more than anyone in Los Angeles. The city has designated two separate “Kent Shocknek Days” in his honor. Prior to covering prime time on CBS TV-owned channels, Shocknek was Southern California's first and longest-running morning news broadcaster. Due to his popularity, he has been asked to appear in over 100 films and dramas - usually a broadcaster or commentator - to climb into a second most popular career that continues. On radio, Shocknek reported daily commentary in L.A. and hosted a nationwide entertainment program.
