Rita Hayworth is an American actress, dancer and producer. She became famous in the 1940s as one of the greatest stars of the era, appearing in 61 movies in 37 years. The press coined the term "Goddess of Love" to describe Hayworth after she became the sexiest screen idol in the 1940s. She was the best GI character in World War II. Hayworth is perhaps best known for her performance in the 1946 film noir Gilda, opposite Glenn Ford, in which she played the female lead in her first dramatic role. She is also known for her performances in Only Angels Have Wings, The Lady from Shanghai, Pal Joey and Separate Tables. Fred Astaire, with whom she directed two films, You're Never Get Rich and You Were Never Lovelier, once called her her favorite dance partner. She also starred in the Technicolor Cover Girl musical, with Gene Kelly.
