Robin Gibb has also had a successful solo career of her own. Their younger brother Andy is also a singer. Gibb was born in Douglas on the Isle of Man to British parents Hugh and Barbara Gibb; the family then moved to Manchester before settling down in Redcliffe, just north of Brisbane, Australia. Gibb started his career with a trio of families. When the group found their first success, they returned to England, where they became famous all over the world. In 2002, Bee Gees was named CBE for their "contribution to music". However, nominations at Buckingham Palace were delayed until 2004.
